PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s weekly tennis honors for the week ending March 27.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Johnson went 2-0 on Saturday to guide No. 36 SMU to a 4-0 sweep of No. 5 Oklahoma State. The junior, who is ranked No. 25 in doubles, teamed with his brother, Yates Johnson, to defeat the No. 9 doubles tandem of Julian Cash and Arjun Kadhe, 6-1. In singles play, Johnson, the No. 73 ranked singles player, earned a straight-set win over No. 121 Kadhe, 6-4, 6-3, on court two. The win over the Cowboys marks the Mustangs’ first top-five victory since the 2001 season.

Laskutova earned a win in singles and doubles to lead No. 28 Tulsa past No. 24 Kansas, 4-2, on Friday. The native of Russia and teammate Renata Kuricova registered a 6-2 win in first flight doubles against No. 68 Janet Koch and Nina Khmelnitckaia. Laskutova followed with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Smith Hinton on court two in singles action. The Golden Hurricane improve to 16-2 overall on the season.
