Houston's Davis, Tulane's Gibbs Take Weekly Baseball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week-ending April 10.

Davis helped Houston to a series win against UCF and hit safely in all four of the Cougars' games last week. He hit .467 (7-for-15) and slugged .667 for the week and had two hits in each of the three games against the Knights. His home run in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference in Houston's 1-0 win in Game 3 against UCF, clinching the series. Davis enters the week ranked second in The American in batting (.357) and RBIs (31) and is fourth in the conference with seven home runs.

Gibbs helped Tulane clinch its series with No. 16 East Carolina by pitching a complete-game shutout in Game 2 against the Pirates. He struck out five and walked one, scattering five hits in a 3-0 win against The American's top-hitting team. Gibbs did not allow an extra-base hit. Gibbs improved to 3-1 with his second complete-game shutout of the season, helping Tulane to its NCAA-leading seventh shutout in 2016.

Pitched 8.0 innings and allowed four hits two runs (one earned) with 13 strikeouts in a no-decision at No. 27 Tulane.

Pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing seven hits with two strikeouts and no walks, to get the win in a 1-0 victory against UCF.
 
Brad Labozzetta • Jr. • RHP • USF • Lakeland, Fla.
Worked a combined seven shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and three hits allowed in two appearances. Earned a win in relief against Memphis with five strikeouts in 4.0 innings.
 
Hunter Williams • Jr. • 1B • Tulane • West Monroe, La.
Hit .364 (4-for-11) with five RBIs in a series with against No. 16 East Carolina. Hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to deliver a 5-2 walkoff win in the opener against the Pirates.
