PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending April 10.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Courtney Rotton • 3B • So. • UCF • Clermont, Fla.
Rotton has been named Player of the Week for the second time this season after recording a pair of multi-hit games this week, including a two-hit performance against No. 2/3 Florida. In Sunday’s 3-1 win over RV/RV Tulsa, the sophomore went 2-for-2 at the plate, with two runs scored and two RBIs. She had a hand in all three of UCF’s runs, as her sac fly in the third scored the game-winning run. She also connected on her first home run of the season as the Knights swept the regular season series against the Hurricane for the first time since 2008. The product of Clermont, Fla., also drew three walks on the week. Defensively, she recorded four putouts and eight assists in 12 chances without an error.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Erica Nunn • P • Sr. • USF • Apex, N.C.
Nunn has earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season after she went 4-0 over the week for No. 25/23 USF. The senior walked just three batters in 22 innings pitched over four games. Nunn fanned 29 batters, highlighted by an 11-strikeout outing in game two of the UConn series. She posted three shutouts and allowed just one earned run for a .32 ERA on the week. The Apex, N.C., native also pitched three complete games to improve her record to 20-6 on the year. Nunn is now 6-1 in conference play this season. At the plate, she led the team with a .545 average in four games played. She recorded six hits in 11 at-bats, with three RBIs, two runs scored and two doubles. She posted a .727 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base percentage.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jamie Ujvari • P • Sr. • UCF • Pensacola, Fla.
Closed out UCF’s 3-1 win over Tulsa on Sunday, collecting her fifth save of the 2016 campaign which set a program single-season record for saves. Ujvari also earned the eighth save of her career, which is two shy of the program record. In the circle, she held a no-hitter heading to the sixth inning in UCF’s 4-1 win over Tulsa on Saturday. She struck out five batters while allowing just two walks before her exit against the Hurricane.
Brooke Vannoy • C • Fr. • Houston • Sugar Land, Texas
Went 5-for-9 at the plate with three home runs, five runs scored and five RBIs on the week. Vannoy recorded her sixth homerun of the season in game two of the series against No. 17/18 Arizona. The freshman posted a slugging percentage of 1.556 and a .636 on-base percentage over the week.
Molly Smith • P • So. • Memphis • Yamhill, Ore.
Pitched in all four of Memphis’ games this week, including two complete-game wins over East Carolina. Smith tallied 18 strikeouts in 18 innings in the circle.
Juli Weber • CF • Sr. • USF • Hegins, Pa.
Led the team with a .545 average on 6-for-11 hitting in five games played. Weber recorded two doubles, three runs and an RBI for a .727 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base percentage. The senior also stole three bases on three attempts to improve her season total to 12.
Maggie Withee • 3B • Jr. • Tulsa • Arlington, Texas
Hit .600 on the week, going 9-for-15 at the plate including three multi-hit games. Withee went 3-for-3 against Oklahoma State on Wednesday and against UCF on Sunday. The junior scored three runs for Tulsa on the week.
