PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s fourth weekly outdoor track and field honors of the 2016 season, for the week ending April 10.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LeShon Collins • Sr. • Houston • Newark, Del.
Collins has earned Male Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in the 2016 outdoor season after his second-place finish in the 200 meter dash at the Baylor Invitational, held in Waco, Texas. The senior finished first in the event among college competitors. His time of 20.77 seconds ranks No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference and is tied for No. 13 in the NCAA this season. Collins also ran the first leg of 4x100 meter relay that took first place at the meet. Houston’s relay squad finished in 39.14, which is the top time in the conference and No. 3 in the country. The Newark, Del., native also holds The American’s No. 1 time in the 100 meter dash (10.21), set on March 30 at the 2016 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kenya Woodall • Sr. • Cincinnati • Coatesville, Pa.
Woodall has been selected as Female Track Athlete of the Week after a first-place finish in the 400 meter dash at the Tiger Track Classic, held in Auburn, Ala. Her time of 52.12 seconds is No. 1 in the conference, No. 4 in the NCAA East Region and No. 6 in the nation in 2016. The senior’s time also qualifies her for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, surpassing the qualifying time by eight-hundredths of a second. The product of Coatesville, Pa., was also part of Cincinnati’s 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams, which both finished in fifth place at the Tiger Track Classic. Both relays rank No. 4 in The American. Woodall also currently holds the No. 2 time in the conference in the 200 meter dash (23.51), set on April 2 at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite (Day 2), held in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Avion Jones • Sr. • East Carolina • Virginia Beach, Va.
Jones has been named Male Field Athlete of the Week after he claimed the high jump event and finished second in the triple jump at the third annual Bill Carson Invitational, hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, N.C. The senior helped lead the Pirates to the men’s team title at the meet. His season-best mark of 2.20 meters in the high jump is No. 1 in the conference, No. 3 in the NCAA East Region and No. 6 in the nation. In addition, Jones’ 15.27 meter mark in the triple jump ranks No. 2 in the league and No. 46 in the NCAA this season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rebecka Abrahamsson • So. • Cincinnati • Karlshamn, Sweden
Abrahamsson is the Female Field Athlete of the Week after posting two top-three finishes at the Tiger Track Classic, hosted by Auburn University. She finished in third place overall and second among collegiate competitors in the long jump. The sophomore’s jump of 6.17 meters is No. 1 in the conference, No. 14 in the NCAA East Region, and No. 25 in the country this year. The Karlshamn, Sweden, native finished first among collegiate competitors and second place overall in the triple jump. Her mark of 12.78 meters ranks No. 2 in The American, No. 9 in the NCAA East Region and No. 22 nationally this season.
