PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The brackets for the 2016 American Athletic Conference Tennis Championships are finalized and play will begin on Wednesday, April 20 at the Dunavant-Wellford Tennis Center on the campus of Memphis University School in Memphis, Tennessee.
As the No. 1 seed in the 11-team women's bracket, Tulsa received a first-round bye into Thursday's quarterfinals, which is set for 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT. The Golden Hurricane will face the winner of No. 8 seed Tulane and No. 9 seed UConn, which play in the first match of the championship on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT. The top half of the bracket also features a quarterfinal match between No. 4 seed SMU and No. 5 seed Houston on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT.
USF, the No. 2 seed in the women's bracket, will play Thursday at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT against the winner of No. 7 seed Temple and No. 10 seed Cincinnati. The Owls and the Bearcats will face off in a first-round match on Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT. UCF is the No. 3 seed and will play Thursday at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT against the winner of Wednesday's 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT match between No. 6 seed East Carolina and No. 11 seed Memphis.
The women's semifinal matches will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT, with the championship final taking place Saturday at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.
In the men’s nine-team bracket, USF is the No. 1 seed and will play at 1p.m. ET/Noon CT on Friday against the winner of Thursday's lone first-round match between No. 8 seed East Carolina and No. 9 seed UConn, which is set for 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT. Rounding out the upper portion of the bracket, No. 4 seed Tulane and No. 5 seed Memphis are set for a quarterfinal matchup on Friday at 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT.
Tulsa is the No. 2 seed on the men's side and will face No. 7 seed Temple on Friday at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT. No. 3 seed SMU and No. 6 seed UCF are set to battle at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT on Friday.
The men's semifinals will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT, with the championship match beginning at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT on Sunday.
