Cincinnati remained in first place in the American Athletic Conference standings after the Bearcats picked up their fourth straight series win last weekend. Tulane sits a half-game out of first, while East Carolina is a game out entering a key series with the Bearcats this weekend.
Before league play resumes, however, an important stretch of midweek games awaits teams from The American. Tulane will take center-stage Tuesday night as the 20th-ranked Green Wave hosts No. 8 LSU at a sold-out Turchin Stadium. Tulane was a 7-1 winner against the Tigers March 29 in Baton Rouge, while the Green Wave enters Tuesday's game riding a four-game winning streak.
UCF also has a rematch against a nationally ranked opponent Tuesday as the Knights visit No. 17 Florida Atlantic. UCF played the Owls to a scoreless draw through 10 innings April 5, but Florida Atlantic scored five times in the top of the 11th to take the win.
Houston and USF resume nonconference play against in-state opponents as the Cougars host Sam Houston State, while the Bulls entertain Florida International.
The lone game on Wednesday's ledger has UConn on the road for the sixth straight game as the Huskies visit Holy Cross.
Midweek action began with a pair of rare Monday matchups. No. 6 North Carolina State gained a split of the season series against No. 17 East Carolina in Raleigh, while Belmont was a 12-6 winner against Memphis in Nashville, Tenn.
