PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s weekly tennis honors for the week ending April 3.
        
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Majed Kilani • Fr. • Tulsa • Tunis, Tunisia
Kilani combined for a 4-0 record in singles and doubles to help lead No. 24 Tulsa to top-25 wins over No. 8 Oklahoma State, 4-1, and No. 23 Tulane, 4-3. The freshman began the match against the Cowboys with a 6-4 victory in third flight doubles and followed up with a 6-4, 6-4, decision over Jurence Mendoza in fourth flight singles. Kilani closed out the weekend with a 6-3 win in doubles and a 6-3, 7-5, victory in singles against the Green Wave.        


 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Celia Ruiz• Fr. • East Carolina • Pontevedra, Spain
Ruiz went undefeated in No. 1 singles and doubles to lead the Pirates to a 2-0 week with wins against Charlotte, 4-0, and Houston, 4-2. The native of Spain started the week with a 6-4 victory in doubles and did not finish in singles against the 49ers. On Saturday, Ruiz produced an upset win over top-100 singles player in the Cougars’ Despoina Vogasari, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6, and added a 6-4 victory in doubles against Houston.
