East Carolina became the first American Athletic Conference team to hit the 20-win mark as the Pirates scored a road win against Elon in midweek action.
The Pirates, who have won their last two road games, look to take that success into conference play as they head to New Orleans for a three-game series at Tulane. East Carolina has fashioned a 5-3 road record this season, but the Green Wave has been particularly strong at Turchin Stadium, where it has gone 13-2 thus far. East Carolina leads The American with a team batting average of .305, while Tulane has been the top power-hitting team in the circuit, thanks to 28 home runs.
Saturday's game between East Carolina and Tulane will be carried live on The American Digital Network, with the first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
UCF takes a 2-1 conference record on the road to face a Houston club that looks to rebound after dropping four of its last five games. The Cougars have been held to one run in three of their last four games, putting pressure on a pitching staff that leads The American with a 2.38 ERA. The UCF pitching staff, for its part, held No. 12 Florida Atlantic scoreless for 10 innings before falling in the 11th in midweek action.
Cincinnati has gone 13-4 in its last 17 games as the Bearcats look to remain hot with their first home conference series of the season. Cincinnati is 12-3 at Marge Schott Stadium in 2016 and faces a UConn squad that has won five straight in the series. The Huskies split a pair of games against Tulane last weekend to open conference play.
USF and Memphis both went 1-2 to start league play last weekend, setting the stage for a key early series between the schools. The Bulls, who dropped a pair of one-run games to Cincinnati last weekend, are led by a pitching staff that ranked third nationally in strikeouts (10.0 per nine innings) entering the week. The Tigers look to snap a three-game slide following a midweek loss to No. 21 Arkansas.
