LECANTO, Fla. – Led by three players in the top six of the individual leaderboard, No. 15 USF posted a team score of 285 (-3) after the first round of the 2016 American Men’s Golf Championship at Black Diamond Ranch Sunday afternoon in Lecanto, Fla.
Seniors Aksel Olsen (-2, 70), Chase Koepka (-1, 71) and sophomore Claudio Correa (-1, 71) paced the Bulls after the first 18 holes of play. USF has a two-stroke lead over second-place East Carolina (-1, 287) while No. 35 Houston recorded a 2-over par 290 for third.
Temple senior Brandon Matthews and Pirates senior Wesley Conover lead the way in the individual standings with a 3-under 69. Olsen, Houston’s Vincent Martino and East Carolina’s Timothy Conover are tied for third overall at 70 (-2) while Koepka, Correa, Manuel Elvira (UCF) and Thomas Perrot (Memphis) are in sixth place with a 1-under-par 71 score.
The second round will begin at 8 a.m. eastern on Monday.
