TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Maya Thomas drove in the game-winning run as fourth-seeded Houston outlasted No. 5 Memphis, 5-4 (10) in extra innings Thursday afternoon at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The Cougars advanced to the American Softball Championship semifinals with the win and will face No. 1 USF Friday at 1 p.m. CT.

th inning drove in freshman Presley Bell and ended a two-inning scoring drought for the Cougars.
Houston (27-28) had two players with multi-hit games in sophomore Kaylin Crumpton (2-for-3) and freshman Elisa LaBeouf (2-for-5). Seven different Cougars connected on at least one hit in the victory.
Lindsay Crowdus and Jessie Lamb each had two hits apiece for the Tigers, who fell to 26-31 with the loss.
The Cougars scored one run in the first six innings before a three-run seventh inning tied the score at 4-4.
In the circle, Savannah Heebner (9-7) picked up the win for Houston while Molly Smith fell to 11-16 with the loss for Memphis.
