TULSA INTERVIEW
TULSA, Okla. – Tournament host and No. 3 seed Tulsa defeated second-seeded UCF, 4-0, Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the American Softball Championship at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The Hurricane will face off with top-seeded USF in the championship title game Saturday at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN. The Bulls advanced to the title game by defeating Houston 4-1 on Friday.
Tulsa and UCF played three scoreless innings before Jocelyn Sheffield got the Hurricane on the board with a two-run HR in the fourth. The Hurricane added two more runs in the fifth when Jodi Edmiston and Morgan Neal each crossed the plate.
Neal went 3-for-4 with one run for Tulsa (34-19), while Julia Hollingsworth finished 2-for-3. Sheffield drove in game-high two RBIs. Samantha McCloskey had a 2-for-3 outing for the Knights, which fell to 36-20 with the loss.
Shelby Turnier (20-16) pitched five innings for UCF and gave up seven hits in the loss. Tulsa’s Caitlin Sill (18-10) got the complete-game win for the Hurricane.
