PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week-ending May 15.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Luke Borders • Jr. • DH • USF • Winter Haven, Fla.
Borders helped USF to two wins in four games against nationally ranked opponents, including a series win against No. 21 East Carolina as the Bulls took two of three on the road against the Pirates. He hit .389 (7-for-18) with three home runs, seven RBIs and five runs scored on the week. He homered in all three games against East Carolina, including a go-ahead three-run blast in Game 2 as USF won 5-1. Borders hit .500 in the series with East Carolina and had at two three-hit games against the Pirates.

Trey Cumbie • Fr. • LHP • Houston
Cumbie won a pair of starts on the road to help the Cougars to a 4-1 week. He worked 8.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts in a 10-0 win against No. 13 Rice and went 5.2 innings with four Ks in a 4-0 victory against Cincinnati. Cumbie finished the week with 13.2 shutout innings and nine strikeouts against four walks, improving his record to 4-2 and lowering his earned-run average to 1.33.
