CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
LECANTO, Fla. – Led by four players that shot par or better, No. 15 USF took a 12-stroke lead following the second day of competition at the 2016 American Men’s Golf Championship at Black Diamond Ranch.
The third and final round of the championship will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. eastern. An awards ceremony and trophy presentation will take place shortly following the conclusion of the final round.
The Bulls shot a second-round best 282 on Monday and currently lead the field with a 9-under 567 (285-282). No. 35 Houston (290-289) and East Carolina (287-292) each tied for second with a 3-over 579.
USF has two players in the top 3 of the individual leaderboard in Chase Koepka (-5, 139), who is tied for first, and Aksel Olsen (-4, 140) who comes in at third.
Houston’s Vincent Martino (70-69) is tied atop the leaderboard with Koepka with a two-day total of 139.
UConn senior Zack Zaback’s round of 64 on Monday tied the lowest 18-hole total in American men’s golf championship history set by SMU alum Bryson Dechambeau in 2015. Zaback climbed 29 spots on the leaderboard and is in fourth with a 3-under 141. Wesley Conover (East Carolina) charted a 2-under 142 for fifth.
