PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week-ending May 8.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jeremy Montalbano • Jr. • DH • Tulane • Katy, Texas
Montalbano helped Tulane to a series sweep at USF, propelling the Green Wave to first place in the American Athletic Conference standings. He hit .500 (7-for-14) and slugged 1.429 in the three games against the Bulls, with four home runs, four runs scored and seven RBIs. He set an American Athletic Conference record with three home runs as part of a 4-for-5 performance in Game 2 against the Bulls. Montalbano is hitting .292 with 10 home runs and 39 RBIs this season.

Jacob Wolfe • Jr. • LHP • East Carolina • Haw River, N.C.
Wolfe helped visiting East Carolina to a sweep at UConn as the Pirates gained two places in the conference standings. Wolfe delivered a complete game in Sunday’s 3-2 win against the Huskies as he scattered four hits — all singles — and struck out a career-high nine batters with two walks. It was the first career complete game for Wolfe and his ninth quality start of the 2016 season.

Worked 8.0 innings and scattered five hits and one walk while striking out six, outlasting Cincinnati in what turned out to be a 12-1 win. The game was tied at 1-1 into the bottom of the seventh.

Hit .545 (6-for-11) with two doubles, two home runs, five runs scored and four RBIs in a three-game sweep at UConn.
Joe Davis • Fr. • 1B/DH • Houston • Austin, Texas
Hit .417 (10-for-24) with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored and four RBIs in a 3-2 week. Hit safely in all five games and went 7-for-15 in a series win against Memphis.
Mitch Ullom • Fr. • RHP • Houston • Sweeny, Texas
Allowed one earned run in 11.1 innings over two appearances. Earned the series-clinching win against Memphis with a complete game, five-strikeout effort.
Alex Massey • Sr. • RHP • Tulane • Baton Rouge, La.
Worked 7.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts and one walk to get the win in a 4-0 victory at USF to sweep the series.
