American Athletic Conference Unveils 2016 Football Championship Logo



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference today unveiled the official logo for the 2016 American Football Championship. The Conference partnered with RARE Design, a design and branding firm located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in the concept and design of this year’s new logo.

The American commissioned RARE, in fact, to design similar logos for all 20 of its conference championships in 2016-17.
 
RARE, founded in 1999 by Rodney Richardson, is best known for its rebranding of several professional teams, including the Houston Texans, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings.
 
This year’s American Football Championship will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3 at noon (ET) on either ESPN or ABC at the home venue of the divisional champion with the best record. The 2016 campaign will mark the second year The American will utilize a 12-team, two-division (East and West) format, in which each team will play eight conference games – five from its own division and three from the other division.
