Willie Fritz, who most recently led Georgia Southern to back-to-back nine-win seasons, enters his first year as Tulane’s head coach.
Fritz was a two-time FCS national coach of the year honoree as head coach at Sam Houston State. Fritz is 58-22 in six years as a Division I head coach.
Tulane returns seven starters from a defense that ranked 12th nationally in tackles for loss in 2015. LB Nico Marley and DT Tanzel Smart were both all-conference first team choices.
RB Dontrell Hilliard is the only returning skill position starter from last season. Hilliard led the Green Wave in both rushing yards (644) and rushing touchdowns (six) in 2015.
