Olympic Coverage
Twenty-seven current or former student-athletes from American Athletic Conference schools are competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics. The Olympic Games kicked off August 5, and will run until August 21.
Women's Basketball
Team USA stayed perfect in Rio with an 81-51 win over Canada on Friday. UConn Alumnae Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi led the team with 12 points each. On the other side of the court UConn's Kia Nurse had three points for Canada.
Team USA picked up another win on Sunday over China, 105-62. Canada suffered back-to-back losses falling to Spain 73-60.
Field Hockey
The USA suffered their first loss in Rio falling to Great Britain, 2-1 on Saturday and then fell to Germany, 2-1 on Monday.
Diving
Former Houston diver Tania Cagnotto added to her medal count in Rio earning the bronze on the 3m springboard on Sunday. Cagnotto took home silver last week in the synchronized 3m springboard final.
