Around the League
· All 10 teams in the conference begin the regular season this week against non-conference opponents.
· RV/NR UCF will face a duo of schools in Chapel Hill, North Carolina over the weekend. The Knights start their season against No. 9/12 North Carolina and will move on to face No. 3/3 Duke on Sunday as a part of the Carolina Classic. In their last match, UCF and UNC tied 1-1 with the Knights prevailing on penalty kicks 5-4. UCF is 2-6-0 all-time against Duke. In 2015, the Blue Devils finished as runners-up in the NCAA Women’s College Cup. In their last match against Duke, UCF came out on top with a 3-2 victory in 2009.
· Cincinnati will host Dayton as the Flyers travel to Gettler Stadium on Friday. The match marks the 108th time the Bearcats have held a match with an opponent from the state of Ohio and the 20th meeting between the teams. Cincinnati leads the series 12-6-1 all-time with a 6-3-0 record at home.
· No.15/9 UConn looks to win their opening day match for the third straight year as they take on the Huskies from Northeastern. The teams have only faced each other once in the history of their programs. In 2011, Northeastern came out on top in a 2-1 victory.
· Temple looks to open play at the new Temple Sports Complex against Drexel. The match marks the first game played in the Owls new facility. Temple returns 13 players from the 2015 team and also adds 13 new faces to their squad.
· Friday marks the first meeting between RV/NR USF and Louisiana Monroe as they meet in Jackson, Miss. Due to poor weather conditions in Monroe, Louisiana, the match was moved to a mutual site. The Bulls also look to improve their 3-3-2 record against FIU on Sunday as they return home to face the Panthers for the first time since 2009.
