PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's soccer honors for the week ending Aug. 28.
Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week
Evelyn Viens * Fr. * F * USF
Viens scored her first collegiate goal in the Bulls 3-2 comeback against Kentucky. She followed her performance by scoring two goals in USF's 3-0 shutout against UMass. In said match, Veins scored her goals in a span of one minute, including a goal on a penalty kick.
Defensive Player of the Week
Taylor Pavlika * Jr. * D * Cincinnati
Pavlika played in all three matches for Cincinnati this week and played 267 of the 277 minutes. She recorded the game-winning assist against Evansville and also provided an assist off a corner kick for the Bearcats lone goal against Purdue.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Rachel Estopare * So. * Houston
Estopare recorded her second and third straight shutout as she led the Cougars to a 1-0-1 road record. She recorded eight saves over the weekend and has yet to allow a goal this season.
Weekly Honor Roll
Rachel Hill * Sr. * F * UConn
Scored two of the Huskies three goals including the game-winning goal in UConn's 3-1 win over Harvard.
Courtney Cash * So. * F * East Carolina
Scored the lone goal in the Pirates loss against 18/18 Virginia Tech, recorded her first career assists as she notched two against Western Carolina
Megan Conte * Fr. * D * East Carolina
Scored her first collegiate goal in the East Carolina 4-0 victory against Western Carolina, became the first foreign player in program history to score a goal.
Lana Spitler * Sr. * F * East Carolina
Scored two goals in the Pirates win over Western Carolina to record her third career multi-goal match.
Serena Dolan * Sr. * MF * Memphis
Played every minute in the Tigers two matches over the weekend, recorded her second career goal in the Tigers win over 19/22 Ole Miss.
Allie Thornton * Fr. * F * SMU
Scored two goals in each of the Mustangs matches while also recording one assist.
