PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 11.
Offensive Player of the Week
Ray Saari * Sr. * M * Tulsa
Saari scored the game-winning goal against UAB on Friday and added an assist on Tulsa’s first goal against Stetson in the UAB Soccer for a Cure Classic. The senior was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts.
Defensive Player of the Week
Quinton Duncan * Sr. * B * Tulsa
Duncan helped Tulsa go 1-0-1 in the UAB Soccer for a Cure Classic and claim the tournament title. Duncan, who earned Tournament MVP honors, played all 200 minutes over the weekend and helped the Hurricane to a shutout over host UAB.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Jake McGuire * Sr. * Tulsa
McGuire logged all 200 minutes between the posts this weekend, picked up three saves and earned a shutout win over UAB. The shutout was his 13
th of his career, tying him with Tyrel Lacey (2005-08) for the most career shutouts with records dating back to 1996.
Rookie of the Week
Stephen Rudderham * Fr. * M * USF
Rudderham scored the first goal of his career in a 2-0 win over San Francisco on Saturday. The rookie found the back of the net in the 43
rd minute to put the Bulls up 2-0. Rudderham has taken three shots in as many games.
