Tulane's Rotich, SMU's Murphy take home Cross Country Weekly Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s cross country honors for the week ending Sept. 11.

Emmanuel Rotich • So. • Tulane
Rotich was the top finisher in the 5k race at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Cross Country Festival with a time of 14:13. Rotich’s time was seven second better than the second place finisher, teammate Moses Aloiloi. The sophomore finished improved on his second place finish from a week  ago  and led Tulane to a second-place finish as a team this week.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Charlotte-Tara Murphy • Fr. • SMU
Murphy won the Gerald Richey Invitational 5k with a time of 17:23.7, 26 second faster than the second place finisher. This is the second straight week that Murphy has been the top finisher for the Mustangs. Her time guided the Mustangs to a meet win in an event that included UT Arlington (No. 11 South Central Region) and North Texas (No. 12 South Central Region).
