PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Sep. 18.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Mendoza • Jr. • S • USF
Mendoza was named the USF Classic Tournament MVP after helping the Bulls to a 3-0 record while not dropping a set. The junior finished with 110 assists including 41 against LIU Brooklyn while averaging 12.2 assists per set. Mendoza also posted a double-double with 38 assists and 14 digs against Wright State.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brooke Berryhill • Sr. • L • Tulsa
Berryhill was named to the All-Tournament team of the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational, helping the Hurricane win their third straight tournament with a 3-0 record. The senior finished the weekend with 78 digs averaging 6.50 digs per set. Berryhill finished with 30 digs against Oral Roberts and added three service aces in a win against Northwestern State.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL   
Jale Hervey • Sr. • OH • UCF
Hervey was named MVP of the Holiday Inn Orlando East UCF Area Challenge helping the Knights to a 3-0 record. Hervey averaged 4.08 kills per set and 2.50 digs per set as Hervey finished with back-to-back double-doubles against Central Arkansas and Central Michigan.
 
Jeanne Westney • Fr. • MB • UCF
Westney was named to the Holiday Inn Orlando East UCF Area Challenge as she finished the tournament with 17 blocks, averaging 1.42 blocks per set. The freshman had no fewer than five blocks in each match and chipped in 10 kills over the weekend.
 
Jordan Thompson • So. • RS/OH • Cincinnati
Thompson averaged 5.67 kills per set in two matches this week. The sophomore also added 11 digs and seven blocks during the week, recording a double-double against Furman.
 
Kayla Williams • Fr. • OH • UConn
Williams was named to the All-Tournament Team at the West Point Invite. The freshman averaged 5.08 kills per set and 2.77 digs per set as she finished with a double-double in every match.
 
Katie Hegarty • Jr. • RS • SMU
Hegarty was named to the Horned Frogs Classic All-Tournament Team. The junior averaged 4.2 kills over the tournament and led the Mustangs in kills against TCU (20) and No. 8 North Carolina (14). Hegarty also added three service aces against the Horned Frogs.
