PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 4.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jorge Gomez Sanchez * Sr. * F * Temple
Gomez Sanchez tallied five points in a 2-0 week for Temple. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh on Friday and had three points – a goal and an assist – in Sunday’s 3-0 shutout of Northeastern.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jordan Klipsch * Sr. * B * Memphis
Klipsch helped Memphis to a pair out shutouts last week in wins over Belmont (4-0) and Missouri State (2-0), respectively. He scored a goal in Friday’s win over the Bruins, his first goal since the 2014 season.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Jake Leeker * Jr. * Memphis
Leeker picked up two wins and back-to-back shutouts over the weekend. The junior made 10 saves in 180 minutes of action, including seven vs. Missouri State. Leeker leads the conference with 6.25 saves/game through four matches.
Rookie of the Week
Jackson Morse * Fr. * M * Memphis
Morse led Memphis in scoring last weekend with two goals, one in each game. He found the back of the net in the 58
th minute vs. Belmont and scored at the 50:15 mark against Missouri State.

Recorded a hat trick, the first of his career, in a 3-0 win over Incarnate Word on Aug. 29

Scored his first career goal in 3-0 win over Northeastern, finished with three points over the weekend
Jacob Gooden * So. * F * Tulsa
Scored two goals last week, including the lone Tulsa goal in a 1-1 (2OT) draw at RV/NR Saint Louis on Sunday
