PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced its weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Sep. 4.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dakota Hampton • Sr. • OH • USF
Hampton led the Bulls to another undefeated weekend and was named Co-MVP of the USF Invitational. Hampton finished the weekend averaging five kills per set and posted a team-high 50 kills in the tournament. The senior had 19 kills in a win against New Mexico and a double-double (17 kills, 10 digs) against Stetson.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brooke Berryhill • Sr. • DS/L • Tulsa
Berryhill helped the Golden Hurricane to a 3-0 weekend and the Creeds and Crests Classic title. The senior finished 5.83 digs per set and finished with 70 digs. In the win against Stephen F. Austin, Berryhill finished with 33 digs. Berryhill also chipped in with four service aces over the tournament.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jordan Pingel • So. • L • UCF
Pingel was named MVP of the Saluki Invitational. The sophomore finished the tournament with 66 digs to go along with five service aces. Pingel had 29 digs in a 3-1 win over Northern Arizona.
Jordan Thompson • So. • RS/OH • Cincinnati
Thompson averaged five kills per set and was named to the Shockers Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team. The sophomore finished the weekend with 55 kills, 25 digs and 11 blocks. Thompson recorded a double-double (25 kills, 12 digs) in a 3-1 win over Wichita State.
Sarah Afflerbaugh • Jr. • RS/OH • Houston
Afflerbaugh finished with a team-high 46 kills over the weekend. The junior hit .394 and was named to the Houston Cougar Classic All-Tournament team. Afflerbaugh had a career-high 18 kills against Texas Southern.
Michaella Moss • Sr. • OH • Memphis
Moss moved to libero for the first time in her career and finished the weekend with 58 digs. Moss helped Memphis to the Tiger Invitational title and was named to the Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Morgan Heise • Sr. • L • SMU
Heise finished the Arizona Invitational with 60 digs, averaging six digs per set through the tournament. The senior had more than 20 digs in two matches and averaged eight digs per set against Arizona.
