Two UConn players were selected in the 2017 NWSL Draft, announced Thursday at the J.W. Marriott hotel in Los Angeles.

Midfielder Rachel Hill is headed to west with the Portland Thorns as fourth pick in the second round (14th overall). Fellow Husky Stephanie Ribeiro, the seventh pick in the second round (17th overall), was selected by Kansas City.

A pair of 2016 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists, Hill and Ribeiro garnered NSCAA All-America honors for the second straight year after helping UConn to its second American Athletic Conference Championship and regular season title in three years and the Huskies’ third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.

The 2016 American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Ribeiro led both the team and the nation with 56 points, including 21 goals and 14 assists this season.

Hill, the 2016 American Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year and two-time MAC Hermann semifinalist, tallied 38 points as senior this year, career-high.
