PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 15.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gabby Williams • Jr. • F • UConn
Williams averaged 15.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in a 2-0 week for top ranked UConn that included wins over No. 20 USF and SMU. The junior shot 55-percent (12-of-22) from the field over the week in only 23 minutes of action per game. Williams posted double-doubles in each contest and added 4.0 steals and 3.0 blocks per game on the defensive end. The Huskies won their 90
th and 91
st consecutive games last week and set a new NCAA mark for consecutive wins.

Korneila Wright • Fr. • G • UCF
Wright tied her career-high in points (11), assists (8) and field goals (5) in UCF’s win at Houston last Wednesday, the Knights’ lone game of the week. She saw 38 minutes of action, her second-longest outing of the season, and committed just one turnover. The Orlando native now has a team-leading 70 assists, and helped UCF surpass its win total from the last three seasons with the victory over the Cougars.
