Indoor Track and Field: Cincinnati, UCF and Houston bring home weekly honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track and field honors of the 2016-17 season, for the week ending Jan. 15.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Cameron Burrell • Sr. • Houston • Houston, Texas
Burrell took home his second weekly honor of the season after winning the 60m dash in the Leonard Hilton Invitational. The senior ran the 60m in 6.66 seconds, which is the fastest time in The American this season and is sixth in the NCAA in the event. 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bryana Robinson • So. • Cincinnati • Atlanta, Ga.
Robinson has been named Female Track Athlete of the Week after a third place finish in the 400m dash at the Kentucky Invitational, finishing behind two postcollegiate runners. Robinson’s time of 53.70 is first in The American and second in the NCAA so far this season.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Adrian Valles • Jr. • Cincinnati • Pamplona, Spain
Valles earned the Male Field Athlete of the Week award with his effort in the pole vault. The junior took home first place in the event at the Kentucky Invitational, clearing a mark of 5.43. Valles leads The American by 1’5” in the event and currently sits at sixth in the NCAA. It was also the second-highest clearance in Cincinnati history behind his own school record of 5.47m from last season. 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Chelsea Gobourne • Sr. • UCF • Sarasota, Fla.
Gobourne has been named Female Field Athlete of the Week finishing second at the UAB Blazer Invite in the weight throw with a distance of 19.84m. Gobourne’s career best distance is good for second in The American and 16th in the NCAA this season.
