UConn's Williams, USF's Henshaw Earn Women's Basketball Weekly Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 1.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gabby Williams • Jr. • F • UConn
Williams did it all last week and averaged 15.5 points on 64-percent (14-of-22) shooting from the field to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in a week that included road wins at No. 4/3 Maryland and UCF. Williams started the week with a 16-point, nine-rebound, five-assist performance in the win over the Terrapins last Thursday. She followed that up with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks in only 28 minutes in the New Year’s Day win over the Knights.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Henshaw posted her first double-double last Friday in a win over Stetson with 12 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. The rookie started her third game of the year against the Hatters and was 6-of-8 (.750) from the field in the victory, well above her 62-percent average for the season.

Had 19 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds leading Temple to an overtime win at Memphis on Sunday
 
Kolby Morgan • Jr. • G • Tulane
Averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Tulane that included wins over Maine and East Carolina
