Highlights
- Cincinnati took part in the Gladstein Invitational at Indiana University and had a fantastic weekend with multiple event wins and school records. On day one, Annette Echikunwoke had a winning mark of 22.53m in the weight throw, which is tied for the top mark in the NCAA and is a Cincinnati school record. Adrian Valles won the pole vault, clearing 5.52m, which is also a school record and is the second highest mark in the NCAA. Junior Sergio Acera won the triple jump with a distance of 14.62m. The Bearcats had another strong showing on day two as Acera won the long jump with a mark of 7.24m, Kellsa Mbah won the long jump with a personal best of 6.00m and Jimmy Brooks won the 600m run with a school record time of 1:19.07.
- UCF spent the weekend in Lexington, Ky., at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational and senior Anne-Marie Blaney brought home victory in the 3000m run with a school record of 9:18.87, the fourth fastest time in the NCAA this season in the 3000m. Chelsea Gobourne finished third in the weight throw for the Knights with a mark of 19.61m.
- UConn’s men’s team had four athletes compete in the URI Heptathlon during the week and finished in second-place with a score of 4506 points. Jordan finished second in the 60m hurdles, long jump, and the 1000m run. At the Sorlien Invitational, UConn took home second-place overall as John Landis (6.94) finished first in the 60m dash, Kyle Trocki (1:06.53) won the 500m run, Christopher Heydrick took home first in the 800m with a time of 1:54.56, Stephon Henry won the 60m hurdles in 8.05 seconds and the Huskies (7:53.10) had the top time in the 4x800m relay. In the field events, Craig Hunter won the pole vault clearing 5.16m.
- UConn’s women’s team was at the Vanderbilt Invitational and Taylor Anderson finished first in the 60m with a time of 7.46, the third fastest time in The American this season.
- East Carolina competed at the Hokie Invitational and brought home three victories. Stefano Migliorati set a school record in the 600m, winning the event in a time of 1:18.84. Nick Ciaccia won the 5000m by more than 11 seconds with a time of 15:17.79. On the women’s team, Aminah Ghaffar won the pentathlon with 3,318 points and won the 60m hurdles (8.97) and 800m (2:29.51) as part of her victory.
- Houston took part in the Mark Colligan Memorial in Lincoln, Neb., and took home ___ wins at the meet. Cameron Burrell continued his strong season with a win in the long jump with a distance of 7.45m and Cameron Cornelius won the shot put with a mark of 17.96m. Taylor Scaife won the women’s weight throw for the Cougars with a distance of 18.60m. In the track events, Mario Burke won the 60m with a time of 6.641 beating teammate Eli Hall-Thompson who finished in 6.648 seconds. Hall-Thompson won the 200m in 20.71, Brian Barraza (4:06.07) won the mile and Amere Lattin won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.91.
- USF was in Allendale, Mich., to take part in the Grand Valley State Open and won seven events. Jeo Fogarasi won the pole vault with a mark of 5.20m which is the second best in school history, and Luke Laffterty won the long jump with a distance of 6.85m for the Bulls. In the men’s track events, Taquon Terry (6.88) won the 60m, Yohance Haynes (1:54.08) won the 800m and the Bulls won the 4x400m relay. On the women’s side, Jada Massie (7.65) won the 60m dash, and Kaytlyn Gill won the long jump with a distance of 5.81m.
- Temple competed in the Navy Women’s Mid-Week Invitational and grabbed seven first place finishes. Kenya Gaston (1:18.49) won the 500m, Millie Howard (2:57.13) won the 1000m, Katie Leisher (4:58.00) took home the top spot in the mile, Grace Moore (9:58.09) won the 3000m, Ebonee Jackson won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.85 and the Owls won the 4x400m relay in a time of 4:03.02. In the field events, Sydnee Jacques won the triple jump with a distance of 11.04m
- Tulsa swept the men’s and women’s 3000m run at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. Olivia Gallagher won the women’s race with a time of 10:35.64 while Caitlin Klopfer (10:45.37) finished second and Amanda Heard (10.47.20) took home third. Mark Middleton led them men in the 3000m with a time of 8:50.49 followed by Steven Salvano (8:52.49) and Kirk Smith (8:55.96).
