There is no doubt the UCF strategy under first-year head coach Johnny Dawkins has been defensive focused. The numbers speak for themselves as the Knights have held opponents to a nation’s best 34.5 field-goal percentage and are third nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 59.2 points per contest. The defensive-mindedness has not kept senior guard Matt Williams from shining on the offensive end.

3-pointers against USF last week. He finished the game with 38 points, a new career-best. The Orlando native leads the conference and is sixth in the nation in 3-pointers made per game (3.8), and is fourth in The American in scoring with 15.9 points per game.
Williams and the Knights (14-5, 5-2) play host to SMU (17-4, 7-1) at CFE Arena tonight with the tip-off at 6 p.m. ET on ESPNews. With a win tonight, UCF would match their conference win total from last season.
