PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors for games played through Oct. 15.
Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Spillane * So. * M * UConn
Spillane compiled four total points in league play this past weekend. She equalized the score vs. Houston Sunday afternoon on an unassisted goal. She also had assists on both goals scored in UConn’s 2-1 win over SMU Thursday. The Huskies improved to 4-2 in conference play with the wins and rank fifth in league standings.
Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Gauthier * Jr. * D * Memphis
Gauthier helped lead the Memphis backline keep both ECU and Cincinnati
21/18 scoreless this past week. She started in both matches and played in every minute. The Tigers have seven total shutouts on the year and are currently tied in conference standings at third with 14 points.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Elizabeth Moberg * Fr. * Memphis
Moberg recorded back-to-back shutouts in her fourth and fifth career matches. She recorded 10 saves in the 0-0 (2OT) draw at Cincinnati
21/18 and three in the win over ECU to finish with 13 for the week. Her 10 saves against Cincinnati
21/18 was a career-high and she now has 28 saves in five matches.
Rookie of the Week
Yamilee Eveillard * Fr. * F * UConn
Eveillard made both goals, including the game-winner vs. SMU, Thursday night to lift the Huskies to a 2-1 win. She is second on the team in goals (4) and third in points (9).
Honor Roll
Stefanie Sanders * Fr. * F * UCF
Sanders scored her third collegiate goal, and her first collegiate game-winner vs. LSU to help UCF extend its unbeaten streak to 11 matches.
Vera Varis * Jr. * GK * UCF
Varis has not allowed a goal in nine-straight matches. She made one save against LSU Sunday and collected her fifth shutout of the season.
Sophie Gorman * Fr. * F * Cincinnati
Gorman recorded a career-high three points in Cincinnati’s 3-2 win over Tulsa Thursday, scoring a goal and adding an assist. She now leads the team in goals (4) and assists (4).
Madison Less * Fr. * GK * Cincinnati
Less went 1-0-1 with one shutout last week and recorded her conference leading sixth shutout of the year. She recorded a career-high eight saves in a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Memphis Sunday afternoon.
Jazmin Grant * Fr. * F * Houston
Grant posted a pair of goals in a 3-2 overtime loss to UConn. She led the team in shots this weekend with 10 and has four goals on the season.
