American Athletic Conference Announces Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors

SMU’s Samardzic and Houston’s Bouter earn swimmer and diver of the week honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced its swimming and diving weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 15.
 
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Matea Samardzic * Sr. * SMU
Samardzic produced four NCAA B cut times as she placed fourth in four of her individual events this past weekend at the SMU Classic. Each event featured three top-10 and four top-20 teams. Her time in the 100 back (54.21) is 16th in the NCAA and first in The American. She produced a time of 1:55.06 in the 200 back, fifth in the NCAA. Her time of 2:01.41 in the 200 IM is 16th in the country, while her 4:13.72 finish in the 400 IM is a fourth best time in the NCAA. All four times are NCAA B cuts.
 
Women’s Diver of the Week
Micaela Bouter * Sr. * Houston
Bouter finished first in the 3-meter and second in the 1-meter diving events in a dual meet at Incarnate Word Thursday. She tallied a score of 281.55 in the 1-meter, and recorded 328.25 points in the 3-meter event to lead the Cougars.
