American Athletic Conference Announces Weekly Women's Soccer Honors

UCF and Houston earn weekly honor accolades



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors for games played through Oct. 22.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Bridget Callahan * Sr. * M * UCF
Callahan tallied a goal in each match this weekend vs. UConn and Temple. The senior midfielder posted back-to-back scoring games for the first time this season, and added an assist in the Knights 4-1 win over Temple Sunday. She compiled a total of five points on the week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Carrie Lawrence * Jr. * D * UCF
Lawrence finished the weekend with four points, while helping UCF 7/8 extend its unbeaten streak to 13 matches. In Thursday’s 2-0 win over UConn, she recorded the assist on the Knights’ second goal off a corner kick. On Sunday, she added a second assist off a corner, and recorded her first game-winning goal.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Rachel Estopare * Jr. * Houston
Estopare posted eight saves against Cincinnati 21/16 and five vs. ECU to combine for 13 saves on the weekend. She played 165 minutes between the posts and finished with a .791 save percentage. With the two wins this past week, the Coogs are now one win from securing the sixth spot in the league standings and qualifying for the American Championship.

Rookie of the Week
Jazmin Grant * Fr. * F * Houston
Grant posted three assists and one goal this past week in wins over Cincinnati 21/16 and ECU. She notched her third assist of the season on Houston’s game-winning goal against the Bearcats. The freshman also recorded two assists and one goal in Houston’s senior day win over ECU.
 
Honor Roll
Kat Elliott * Sr. * GK * USF
Elliott tallied eight saves in 180 minutes in goal. She recorded her fifth shutout in the Bulls’ 1-0 win over Temple Thursday, and held off UConn 2-1 to help the Bulls’ win on Sunday.
 
Evelyne Viens * So. * F * USF
Viens scored her 10th goal of the season, 26th of her career, on Sunday in USF’s 2-1 victory vs. UConn. The Bulls improved to 7-1 in conference play with the win.
 
Sabrina Wagner * Fr. * D * USF
Wagner played all 90 minutes in USF’s match against Temple keeping the Owls scoreless and recorded an assist on the game-winning goal.
 
Catie Brown * Jr. * GK * SMU
Brown recorded back-to-back shutouts vs. ECU and Cincinnati 21/16 in 180 minutes of play this past week. She made a total of six saves in net.
 
Katia Novi * Fr. * F * SMU
Novi netted the game-winner against Cincinnati 21/16 on her only shot of the match. The Mustangs now hold a one-point advantage for sixth-place in conference standings.
