American Athletic Conference Announces Final Weekly Women's Soccer Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced its final weekly honors of the season for games played through Oct. 27.

Offensive Player of the Week
Vivien Beil * Jr. * F/M * UConn
Beil made two goals and tallied an assist for a total of five points in UConn’s 3-2 win over Temple Friday night. Her first goal knotted the score 1-1 in the first half, while her second was the game-winner with under three minutes left in regulation. The win was the difference between the Huskies earning the fifth or sixth seed in The American Championship this week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Vanessa Gilles * Sr. * D * Cincinnati
Gilles helped the Cincinnati backline limit ECU to eight total shots as the team recorded its 11th shutout of the season, the most of any team in the American Athletic Conference. Her play also brought about several school records, including most home shutouts in a season (eight), most wins in a home season (eight) and most shutouts by a senior class (27).

Goalkeeper of the Week
Madison Less * Fr. * Cincinnati
Less earned her sixth win of the season, while posting her league-leading seventh shutout Friday vs. ECU. This is the sixth time in a single season Cincinnati recorded double-digit clean sheets. The rookie goalkeeper’s 0.63 goals-against average currently ranks fourth-best in the program’s single-season history behind three seniors.

Rookie of the Week
Dina Orschmann * Fr. * F * UCF
Orschmann scored the equalizer against USF RV/RV in the second half of Friday night’s winner-take all match-up. The 1-1 double-overtime finish allowed the Knights to clinch the American Athletic Conference regular reason title. Her goal marked the second time this season (vs. then-No. 4 North Carolina 8/25) that she pilled UCF even after falling behind.

Honor Roll
Sophie Gorman * Fr. * M * Cincinnati
Gorman scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over ECU Friday to secure the third place seed in The American Championship. Her goal was her team-leading sixth of the season and her third game-winner.

Kingston played all 110 minutes of the 0-0 double-overtime draw at Tulsa Friday. She anchored the Memphis defense and helped limit Tulsa to seven shots.

Kat Elliott * Sr. * GK * USF
Elliott recorded a career-high nine saves in her final regular season match Friday night. She helped the Bulls keep UCF 7/6 scoreless for 57 minutes, then held the line for the remainder of regulation and double-overtime to tie the Knights 1-1.
