PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Six American Athletic Conference teams were recognized by United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) as Team Academic Award Winners for exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.
A total of 813 collegiate teams (282 men, 531 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 195 schools that had both their men’s and women’s programs among the recipients. To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible. The list from The American includes UCF, Cincinnati, ECU, Memphis, USF and SMU.
