Week Seven Men's Soccer Honors Announced



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 8.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Ricardo Gomez * Sr. * M * USF

Gomez had a conference-high four points last week after scoring two goals in USF’s 3-2 win at Tulsa. It was the first two-goal match of Gomez’s career, and USF remains unbeaten in conference play and tied for first in The American standings at 3-0-0 with the win.  
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jacob Hauser-Ramsey * Jr. * B * UConn
Hauser-Ramsey was a key part of the UConn defense that posted its conference-best sixth shutout of the season Saturday against Cincinnati. The junior played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over the Bearcats and helped the Huskies remain atop the league standings with a 3-0-0 mark.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Scott Levene * R-Sr. * UConn

Levene made nine saves last week, including six against Cincinnati in Saturday’s 1-0 shutout victory. The redshirt senior posted his third shutout in conference play with the win and has now started 63 consecutive games in goal for UConn, the second-longest streak in program history. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Jackson Brady * Fr. * B * Memphis
Brady scored his first collegiate goal in the 1-1 double overtime draw against UCF Saturday evening at the UCF Soccer Complex. Brady got Memphis on the scoreboard first by finding the back of the net in the 10th minute.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Abdou Mbacke Thiam * Jr. * F * UConn
Scored his fifth game-winning goal of the season in a 1-0 win over Cincinnati last Saturday
 
Blaise N’Gague * Fr. * M * UConn
Scored his first career-goal with a game-tying penalty kick against No. 3 Maryland last Monday
 
Christian Knight * Jr. * GK * USF
Made six saves against Tulsa last week, improved to 3-0-0 and 4-0-1 overall with the win over the Hurricane
 
Mauro Cichero * Sr. * F * SMU
Scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute in a 2-1 win over Temple
 
Jared Rice * Sr. * B * SMU
Scored his first goal of the season and second career goal in a 2-1 win over Temple
