Wichita State's Torgerson Named Women's Golf Player of the Month

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Wichita State senior Taryn Togerson (Buhler, Kan.) was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Month for October, the league announced on Wednesday.

Torgerson earned medalist honors at the Fall Preview, besting a field of 69 in shooting 218 (73-70-75) on the par-72 Sand Creek Station course. Torgerson’s second-round 70 was the best score of the tournament, and she finished six shots clear of the field overall. Her effort helped Wichita State take the team title, as the Shockers won in a playoff over Northern Iowa.

Earlier in the month, Torgerson fired a two-over par 218 at the Johnie Imes Invitational, contested at The Club at Old Hawthorne, finishing in a tie for 11th. Through five fall tournaments, Togerson has tallied four top-10 and five top-20 finishes.
