With the 68-61 win, Travis Mays is now a perfect 2-0 in season openers as head coach at SMU. McKenzie Adams scored a career-high 38 points, the third-highest point total in program history. Dai’ja Thomas grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds to lead the team.
 
23/22 USF 61, LSU 55
Maria Jespersen and Kitija Laksa combined for 36 points in the Bulls’ 61-55 victory against the Tigers. Jespersen finished just shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Laksa added 16 points and nine rebounds and scored her 1,001st point in the first play of the game.
 
Tulane 42, Maine 34
Tulane opened the season with a 42-34 win over Maine. Kolby Morgan led the Green Wave in points (18) and rebounds (nine). Kayla Manuirirangi recorded six assists without a turnover and Harlyn Wyatt added seven rebounds.
 
NR/RV Temple 96, Delaware State 72
Temple opened the 2017-18 season with a 96-72 victory over Delaware State University. A pair of double-doubles from Tanaya Atkinson and Mia Davis paced the Owls’ offense. Atkinson (23 points, 13 rebounds) and Davis (21 points, 17 rebounds) combined for 44 points - nearly half the team’s total.
 
ECU 66, USC Upstate 53
Four of five starters set career-highs in the Pirates' 66-53 win over USC Upstate. Raven Johnson led the team in points with 21, while Thais Oliveria recorded her first double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Memphis 79, Tennessee State 75 OT
Led by Cheyenne Creighton's 21 points, five Tigers scored in double-digits in the  79-75 overtime win versus Tennessee State. Memphis is now 7-3 in home openers under the direction of head coach Melissa McFerrin.
