American Teams Go 3-0 On Saturday

American Athletic Conference teams went undefeated on Saturday, as Memphis, Houston and Tulsa all collected wins.

Tulsa 92, Central Arkansas 72
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Corey Henderson Jr. had career-highs with four 3-pointers and 24 points, DaQuan Jeffries added three 3s and 20 points, and Tulsa beat Central Arkansas 92-72 on Saturday.

Junior Etou, who leads the team at 17.6 points per game, had his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Tulsa (3-3) while Sterling Taplin added 11 points. The Golden Hurricane shot better than 50 percent (54.4) for the fourth time this season.

Tulsa went on an early 11-2 run for a 31-14 lead and Henderson led all scorers with 13 first-half points as the Golden Hurricane had a 15-point lead at the break.

Jordan Howard led Central Arkansas (3-3) with 23 points. Howard, who entered fourth in the nation in scoring at 26.8 points, extended his program record to 297 3-pointers after three makes against Tulsa. Mathieu Kamba had 12 points and 12 boards.

Memphis 76, Northern Kentucky 74
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Jimario Rivers scored 17 points with seven rebounds, Jamal Johnson scored a go-ahead 3-pointer, and Memphis rallied to a 76-74 win over Northern Kentucky Saturday night in the first-ever meeting of the teams.

Kyvon Davenport scored 16 points, Jeremiah Martin had 15 with six assists, and Johnson finished with 12 for the Tigers (3-1), who outscored the Norse 42-30 in the paint.

David Nickelberry's 3 capped an 8-0 second-half run and Memphis rallied to a 59-58 lead, trailed briefly, and then led 67-63 on Johnson's back-to-back 3s with 4:03 left. The Norse closed to 75-74 on Jordan Garnett's 3 with 21 seconds left. Nickelberry blocked Lavone Holland II's layup before Johnson made one of two free throws to make it a two-point game. Holland missed a 3 as time expired.

Garrett's tip-in capped Northern Kentucky's 13-3 opening run and the Norse led 40-31 at halftime after holding the Tigers to 37.5 percent shooting from the floor.

Holland scored 19 points, Garnett had 15 and Drew McDonald 10 for Northern Kentucky (4-2).

Houston 97, Incarnate Word 58
HOUSTON (AP) -- Wes VanBeck and Rob Gray scored 16 points apiece and led six players in double figures as Houston rolled to a 97-58 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday night.

Fabian White Jr. added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars (4-1). Corey Davis Jr. also had 14 points and Devin Davis and Armoni Brooks had 10 apiece. The team averaged 53 percent from the field compared to 32 percent for Incarnate Word.

Houston took a 16-15 lead on a VanBeck layup six minutes into the first half and led the rest of the way, building to a 44-30 advantage at the break.

The Cougars opened the second half on a 10-2 run capped by a Corey Davis 3-pointer and they were up 54-32 with 15:32 left to play and cruised to the win.
Simi Socks led the Cardinals (3-2) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Christian Peevy and Keaton Hervey added 10 points each.
