2017 American Men’s Soccer Championship Bracket Announced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
No. 13/7 SMU earned the 2017 American Athletic Conference men's soccer regular-season title and clinched the No. 1 seed in the American Men's Soccer Championship, to be held Nov. 10 & 12 at Westcott Field in Dallas. UCF will be seeded No. 2 while UConn and Temple claimed the third and fourth seeds, respectively. All four teams will compete for the championship title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Knights and the Huskies kick off Championship semifinals action at 5:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. CT in the first match of the day on Friday, Nov. 10, while the host Mustangs face the Owls in the night cap at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. Both semifinal matchups will air live on The American Digital Network. The semifinal winners will square off in the title game on Sunday, Nov. 12 (2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT, ESPNU) for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Tournament seeding is based on points accumulated through league play.

No. 1 SMU (13-2-1, 5-1-1 American) defeated UConn, 1-0, on Saturday to clinch the tournament's No. 1 seed. The Mustangs host No. 4 Temple on Friday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

No. 2 UCF (7-5-2, 4-2-1 American) faces No. 3 UConn in championship semifinals action next Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. CT. UCF topped Cincinnati, 2-1 in overtime, in their regular season finale to earn the No. 2 seed.

No. 3 UConn (8-7-2, 4-3-0 American) was edged by SMU, 0-1, on Saturday and earned the tournament's third seed. The Huskies face second-seeded UCF in semifinals action on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. CT.

No. 4 Temple (9-7-1, 4-3-0 American) topped USF, 1-0, in its final game of the season to earn a spot in the semifinals. The Owls open tournament play against No. 1 SMU Friday at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
