Cincinnati's Evans, SMU's Chargois Earn Weekly Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the week of Dec. 11-17.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jacob Evans · Sr. · G · Cincinnati · Baton Rouge, La.
Evans led No. 25 Cincinnati to wins over Mississippi State and UCLA, averaging 20.0 points per game in the process. Against a Bulldogs squad earning votes in both polls, Evans posted a game-high 24 points before finishing with 16 against a Bruins team also receiving votes. In the two wins, Evans combined to go 12-of-24 from the field and 8-of-13 from 3-point range.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ethan Chargois · Fr. · F · SMU · Tulsa, Okla.
In SMU’s win over New Orleans, Chargois was one of five Mustangs in double figures, finishing with 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds. The 16-point effort marked the eighth time in 11 games Chargois has reached double-figure scoring. This is the second time this season Chargois has been named American Rookie of the Week.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Gary Clark · Sr. · F · Cincinnati · Clayton, N.C.
Clark stuffed the stat sheet in a 2-0 week for No. 25 Cincinnati, averaging 9.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 4.0 block and 2.5 steals per game. Clark’s double-double at UCLA was the 21st of his career.

In a pair of Tulsa wins, Etou averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Etou was 15-of-23 from the field, scoring 19 points against Prairie View A&M ahead of a 24-point effort versus Manhattan.
 
Tacko Fall · Jr. · C · UCF · Dakar, Senegal
Fall recorded his finest game of the season in UCF’s win over Southeastern Louisiana, dominating down low with 19 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. After an 8-of-10 effort from the field, Fall is now shooting 76.4 percent on the season.

For the second straight week, Martin averaged 19.5 points across two games, matching his career-high with 26 points against Louisville. In the Tigers’ win over Albany, Martin added 13 points and a season-high five steals.
 
Jimmy Whitt · Jr. · G · SMU · Columbia, Mo.
Whitt posted his best game at SMU in the Mustangs’ win over New Orleans, finishing with career highs in both points (18) and assists (8). Whitt was 8-for-11 in the victory and added six rebounds.
