USF’s Laksa, Cincinnati’s Thomas Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 17.

 

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Laksa set a new NCAA record in any division Friday night against Southern when she made 11-consecutive 3-point field goals. The 11 3-pointers marked a new American record, and her 40 points against the Jaguars are the second most in program history. Laksa shot 81-percent (13-of-16) from the floor and 92-percent (11-of-12) from beyond the arc.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Iimar’i Thomas  Fr. • F • Cincinnati
Thomas averaged a double-double of 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in a pair of games for Cincinnati last week. She shot a combined 72-percent (13-of-18) in both games. In an 87-53 win over Howard, Thomas posted season-bests of 19 points and 11 rebounds. She scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench in an 87-76 loss to No. 13 Ohio State.

Scored 10 of her game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter in a win over Marist, added eight rebounds and four assists
 
Kolby Morgan Sr.  G Tulane
Led Tulane with 19 points in a 62-44 victory over C-USA preseason favorite Middle Tennessee
 
Tatyana Perez Jr.  G Tulsa
Had a game-high 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting (4-of-6 from 3-point range) in a road win over South Dakota
