Samuelson, Williams Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 24.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Lou Samuelson • Jr. G • UConn
Samuelson averaged 26.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 62.1-percent (18-of-29) from the field and 66.7-percent (12-of-18) from 3-point range in a 2-0 week for the top-ranked Huskies. Samuelson started the week with a 19-point, six-assist effort in an 88-64 win over RV/RV Oklahoma on Dec. 19 as part of the Naismith Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase. She followed that up with a 33-point, six-rebound performance in the win over Duquesne Friday evening in Toronto.  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Ariyana Williams  Fr. • G • ECU
ECU guard Ariyana Williams moved her double-figure scoring streak to nine consecutive games with a game and career-high 34-points in a win over Savannah State last Wednesday. Williams shot 60-percent (12-of-20) from the field and made 6-of-10 3-pointers in the win over the Tigers. The Pirates have won six of their last seven games heading into conference play this week.

Kolby Morgan Sr.  G Tulane
Named Tulane Classic MVP; averaged 27.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game in wins over Troy and UTEP
 
Shug Dickson So.  G Tulsa
Averaged 28.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week; scored a career-high 33 points at Saint Louis
