17 Cross country teams earn USTFCCCA Academic honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2016 DI Cross Country Team Academic Awards and 17 teams from the American Athletic Conference earned the honor.

To take home the honor, a team had to achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Six men’s teams and all 11 women’s teams posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Cincinnati posted the highest GPA in the conference for both the men’s teams (3.60) and for the women’s teams (3.68).

Nine student-athletes also earned spots on the USTFCCCA DI Cross Country Individual Academic Award Team.  In order to qualify for the honor, a student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) and finish in the top-25 at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet.
