USF’s Laksa, Henshaw Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Accolades



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 12.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kitija Laksa • So. • F • USF
Laksa averaged 27.5 points per game last week, shooting 58-percent (22-of-38) from the field and 50-percent (7-of-14) from 3-point range in a 2-0 week for the Bulls. The sophomore opened the week with 34 points, including 18 in the second half, in a win at East Carolina last Wednesday. In a NCAA resume booster, Laksa powered the Bulls to their 20th win of the season with a 66-56 victory over Tulane on Sunday. Laksa had 21 points against the Green Wave on 8-of-16 shooting.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Henshaw played a crucial role in USF’s 76-66 road victory over East Carolina, posting the third double-double of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The freshman only missed one shot, finishing 5-of-6 and added three assists, two blocks and two steals. Against Tulane, Henshaw just missed her fourth double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds but added a career-high four blocks.

Averaged a double-double of 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds as Temple defeated Tulsa and East Carolina
