Indoor Track and Field: UCF, Houston, Tulsa and Tulane take home weekly honors


 
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track and field honors of the 2016-17 season, for the week ending Feb. 12.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Amere Lattin • So. • Houston • Missouri City, Texas
Lattin earned Male Track Athlete of the Week after his performance in the 60m hurdles at the Tyson Invitational. Lattin ran the event in 7.74 seconds to post the fastest time in the conference this year and the seventh fastest in the nation. The sophomore was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that posted  the top  time in The American this season (3:09.95). 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Anne-Marie Blaney • Sr. • UCF • Ocala, Fla.
Blaney has been named Female Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 5ooom run at the Music City Challenge in a school-record 15:55.69. Blaney’s time in the 5000m is tops in the conference and 11th in the NCAA. Blaney also posted the second fastest time in the conference in the mile run, running the race in 4:45.51.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CO-MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Aleks Rapp • Fr. • Tulsa • Toronto, Canada
Rapp has been named Co-Male Field Athlete of the Week after his performance in the weight throw at the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. Rapp threw a school record 20.85m, which is the top mark in the conference and 23rd best mark in the NCAA. 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CO-MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Cameron CorneliusJr. • Houston • Deer Park, Texas
Cornelius earned Co-Male Field Athlete of the Week after winning the shot put at the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston, Texas. Cornelius won his fourth competition of the season and posted the top mark in The American this season by one centimeter.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alyssa Applebee • Sr. • Tulane • Seneca, Ill.
Applebee earned her first Female Field Athlete of the Week with her performance in the pole vault at the Don Kirby Invitational. Applebee cleared a personal best of 4.22m, which is the highest clearance in the conference and the 12th highest clearance in the NCAA.
