- The 2017 softball season will head into its second week with all seven American teams in action.
- UConn will begin their season at the UTC Chattanooga Challenege. The Huskies had to cancel their trip to the FGCU Tournament this past weekend due to inclement weather in the northeast. UConn will play four games over the weekend. Their opponents include Tennessee Tech, host Chattanooga, and IUPUI.
- USF, who jumped up five spots in the rankings to No. 20, will compete in the Michele Smith Tournament in Clearwater, Fla., this weekend where they will face No. 14 James Madison and RV Oklahoma State. The Bulls will host Wisconsin in midweek action before taking part in the Michele Smith Tournament.
- East Carolina began its 2017 campaign Friday at the University of Georgia’s Red and Black Showcase with pair of losses to Syracuse and Winthrop inside Turner Softball Stadium
