Perras led the Cougars to a third-place finish in their spring opener at the All-American Intercollegiate Feb. 17-19 at the Golf Club of Houston. The junior lowered his score each round of the event and carded a 4-under 212 (73-70-69) en route to a seventh-place finish. Perras tied for the tournament lead with -5 scoring on par 4s, and was among tournament leaders with 13 birdies. The Cougars defeated No. 21 Auburn and No. 39 South Carolina during the three-day event. American Men’s Golf Notebook: UCF • Donnie Trosper recorded a Top 20 finish to lead UCF in their season opener at the SunTrust Gator Invitational Feb. 18-19 at the Mark Bostick Golf Course…The Knights tied for seventh as a team. • UCF returns to action on Feb. 24-26 competing at the John Hayt Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Cincinnati • Sophomore Austin Squires earned his fifth Top 10 finish of the season at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, tying for third at 3-under 213 (71-71-71)…The Bearcats placed sixth overall as a team • Cincinnati will compete at the Colleton River Collegiate Mar. 6-7 in Bluffton, South Carolina. East Carolina • The Pirates finished 12th overall during their last time out at the Sea Best Invitational on Feb. 1-2…Junior Tim Conover led East Carolina with a Top 30 finish. • The Pirates are back in action Feb. 24-26 at the John Hayt Intercollegiate. Houston • The Cougars defeated two ranked opponents during action at the All-American Intercollegiate Feb. 20-21 in Mobile, Alabama…Matt Scobie and Papito Gonzales joined Michael Perras as Top 10 individual leaders during the event • Houston next competes at the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate on Feb. 26-28. USF • Jimmy Jones, Claudio Correa and Christian DiMarco all posted Top 30 finishes at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, the Bulls’ spring season opener…USF posted their sixth consecutive Top 10 finish of the season during the event. • USF is back in action this weekend at the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico. SMU • Junior Gray Townsend climbed eight spots on the leaderboard on the final day at the All-American Intercollegiate, carding his second Top 25 finish of the season…The Mustangs finished 17th overall as a team at the event. • SMU returns to the links Feb. 27 at the Southwestern Invitational hosted by Pepperdine.
