UConn’s Collier, Tulsa’s Elliott Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 5.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Collier averaged 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 82-percent (22-of-27) from the floor during a 2-0 week for top-ranked UConn. The sophomore started the week with 25 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and three steals in UConn’s win at Temple on Wednesday.  The O’Fallon, Mo. native was 12-of-14 from the floor and the double-double was her seventh of the season. Collier followed that up with a 24-point, nine-rebound, three-assist effort in the win over Tulsa on Sunday.

Elliott averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last week as Tulsa split a pair of games against East Carolina and No. 1 UConn. Elliott opened the week with a personal-best 27 points and earned her third double-double with 13 rebounds in last Tuesday’s win over the Pirates. She added eight points and five rebounds in Sunday’s loss to the Huskies.
