Top-ranked UConn lost one of the most successful senior classes in women’s basketball history, yet continue its winning ways. A big contributor has been sophomore Katie Lou Samuelson, who has stepped into a larger role on the court and helped the Huskies improve their winning streak to 97 consecutive games.
Samuelson has emerged as the Huskies’ go-to offensive weapon this season as she leads The American in scoring with 21.4 points per game, 3-point field-goals made (74) and 3-point field-goal percentage (44.0). In January, Samuelson had a three-game stretch where she scored 94 points to tie Maya Moore’s record three-game total. Her impressive offensive output has her on pace to land high on UConn’s all-time single-season scoring average list.
The Huskies visit the Queen City for a matchup with Cincinnati this evening at 7 p.m. ET on SNY/
